Our Research

Our Clinical Study Results

In our research, women with PCOS followed the Ovara Nutrition Plan for 8 weeks.  

This plan recommends avoiding starch-based foods, dairy, and processed sugar because of their insulin-stimulating properties.  We hypothesized that simply avoiding insulin-stimulating foods would reduce insulin and testosterone levels in patients with PCOS.  Study participants were NOT allowed to exercise, use insulin-sensitizing medications or supplements, or take hormonal contraception during the study to remove confounding variables.   


In only 8 weeks, the participants lost an average of 19 POUNDS and had significant reductions in insulin and testosterone levels and triglycerides.  In addition, these patients had significantly improved insulin sensitivity after only 8 weeks (HOMA-IR).  Please see our peer-reviewed publications to learn more.


The results we have seen have been nothing short of amazing.  We have presented our data in the US and internationally and just wrapped up another 3-arm randomized controlled trial with publication coming soon!
